Petane Pinot Gris 2023
The Drinking
This delicate, juicy Pinot Gris displays aromas of apple blossom and wild flowers, leading to white stone fruits and green pears on the palate. Two selective hand picks were made with the late pick being fermented in seasoned oak barrels, creating a textural and balanced wine with light natural acidity and punchy summer fruit flavours.
The Growing
Our dry farmed vines had to work hard this season as the conditions from mid-summer to late autumn were hot and dry. Crop thinning, trimming and a late leaf pluck to reduce sun burn to the bunches, all combined well to enhance ripening.
The Making
Handpicked on the 28th of March then whole bunch pressed, the juice was settled over night then racked into a stainless ferment tank. After selecting our favoured yeast culture, a nice cool ferment started; this slow ferment has allowed the wine to retain the delicate fruit flavours. Post ferment the wine was left on its yeast lees to evolve, then fined, crossflow filtered and bottled.
