Gewürztraminer 2014 - 5 stars

Brilliant lemon-straw colour with pale green-gold hues. The nose is fine in proportion with rich aromas of exotic yellow and rose-petal florals along with Turkish Delight, musk and a hint of root ginger. The aromatics pure and sleek, forming a concentrated core, growing in depth and density. Off-dry to taste, the palate features a tight and concentrated core of bright and luscious fruit flavours of exotic tropical fruits lifted by rose-petal florals and Turkish Delight. Subtle layers of honey, musk and creaming soda add to the richness. The mouthfeel is smooth and near unctuous, and the wine flowing seamlessly, driven by some underlying alcoholic power. The wine leads to a soft, plush, exotic finish with lingering floral, honey and musk nuances. This is a rich, smooth, exotic, off-dry Gewurztraminer with good concentration, linear flow and power. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Bellbird’ block, WBP and fermented in stainless-steel to 14.5% alc. and 11 g/L RS, the wine aged 14 months on lees. 50 cases made. 18.5/20 Nov 2015
