Petane Station Pétillant Naturel 2018
Pétillant Naturel is a centuries old method of creating naturally sparkling wines.
Originally known as méthod ancestrale, this simply means the wine is bottled before primary ferment is finished, without the addition of yeasts or sugars, allowing the wine to create its own effervescence.
Brendon Keys (BK Wines) has been refining this whimsical and beautifully natural style of winemaking for almost a decade.
For harvest 2018, Petane winemaker Philip Barber made a vintner’s pilgrimage to learn from his good friend, Brendon on the Basket Range in Australia’s Adelaide Hills. The new (but old) techniques he studied resulted in this handmade, evocative concrete egg fermented Pét-Nat.
