Petane Station Gewürztraminer 2014
This is a rich and impressive Hawke's Bay gewürztraminer, full-bodied with thick oily textures and complex, concentrated flavours. Aromas of rose petals, honey suckle and gingerbread are followed by spiced pears and mangos notes on the palate. This is a fine wine designed for ageing, and whilst drinking beautifully now, will develop to it's full potential with careful cellaring.
The summer of 2014 was dry with warm days and cool evenings allowing the berries to ripen slowly, accumulating sugars with slow acid reduction. Full phenological ripeness was achieved by mid Autumn with part of the crop becoming raisoned, concentrating the rich and complex flavours.
The fruit was handpicked from our Bellbird block in late March and whole bunch pressed. After cold settling the juice was racked then tank fermented. Post ferment the wine was left to evolve and stabilise on its yeast lees for 14 months.
